To The Women Of The Sweat Community This Mother’s Day - Hero image

There are so many incredible mothers that make up the Sweat Community, from our trainers to our amazing members.

We know that for so many families, Mother’s Day is a day full of love and a chance to celebrate and pay tribute to the women who raised you or a special day to spend with your own children.

But for others in our community, we know that this coming Sunday can often be a difficult day to get through, and one that can bring up feelings of loss and sadness. If Mother’s Day is painful for you, it probably feels like a near-impossible day to avoid, with everything from television ads to your local florist or cafe talking about the day and how to celebrate it in the lead-up.

We wanted to extend our love and support to the women in the Sweat Community who might be struggling in the lead up to this Mother’s Day: we see you. We hear you. We are you.

The women who have lost their own mothers.

The women who don’t have a positive relationship, or any relationship at all, with their mums.

The women whose path to parenthood has been punctuated by loss and sadness.

The women who wanted to be mothers but, for whatever reason, that dream has not become a reality.

The women who are trying to add to their family.

The women who have lost children.

The women who are estranged from their own children.

The women who, for whatever reason, haven’t found motherhood to be the easiest of journeys.

The women who know this Mother’s Day might be the last one they get to spend with their children or their own mother.

We know this time of year can be painful for so many women, especially when everyone around you appears to be celebrating.

While your pain might not always be visible, we know you feel it deeply. No matter how complex your grief may be, or how much time might have passed, if today is a hard day for you we would like to extend our kindness and support.

How to support someone who is struggling today

One of the most incredible things about the Sweat Community is how the incredible women that are a part of it support and uplift one another, and we know that today is no different.

If you know someone who is struggling with Mother’s Day, Option B (an organisation dedicated to helping people build resilience in the face of adversity) has some advice for helping people approach and navigate the day.

They suggest not trying to “fix” the day for your friend or loved one, but making simple and thoughtful gestures like offering to share memories if it’s of comfort to them and reminding them that you are there.
