From toast or crackers to salads and snacks, there is so much you can do with boiled eggs. The annoying part? The prep. Waiting for the water to boil, making sure you start the timer at the right moment, knowing how long to even cook them for in the first place, let alone getting the shell to slide off in one perfect peel… It’s not a set-and-forget kind of process.
Lately, we’ve seen people popping eggs in the air fryer and getting both a perfect cook and a much easier peel, with way less admin and clean up involved, and we were immediately on board when Leah Itsines confirmed it works (if she’s got a kitchen hack, you can trust it).
Your step-by-step guide to air fryer hard-boiled eggs
Gently place your room temperature eggs in the air fryer basket. If it’s your first time trying this method, we recommend only using one or two to check you’re happy with the final product before cooking a bunch at once!
Set your temperature and time, then press start. See recommended cooking times and temperatures below, depending on how you like your eggs.
Use a large spoon or tongs to lift the eggs out of the basket, as they’ll be hot, and transfer them to a bowl of cold or ice water for at least a few minutes to stop them from cooking any further.
Tap each egg on your bench top to crack the shell, then peel off and enjoy!
Cooking times and temperatures
Leah found that cooking her eggs at 150°C for nine minutes produced perfectly jammy eggs, but every air fryer is different, so you might need to play around to find exactly what works for you.
As a general guide:
For hard-boiled eggs, cook them for 14-15 minutes at 120°C
For soft-boiled eggs, cook them for 10-12 minutes at 120°C
