Kayla Itsines white sneakers

In pretty much every image and video of Kayla Itsines, Sweat’s head trainer and co-founder, she’s working out in white sneakers. Not white-turned-brown sneakers, not white sneakers with a few scuff marks - perfectly crisp, white kicks. And no, she doesn’t buy a new pair every week.

So, for someone who is always on the go and works out regularly, how does she keep them so fresh? Here’s the method she has been sharing with the Sweat Community for years. You’re welcome.

What you’ll need:

  • Washing powder

  • Stain remover (gel or soap)

  • Sponge or something to gently scrub with

  • 2-3 old towels

  • … And of course, one pair of dirty white sneakers in desperate need of some TLC

What to do:

  1. Fill a bucket or bowl with warm water.

  2. Soak your sponge in the water, then rub it all over your sneakers until they are very damp.

  3. Grab your stain remover gel or soap and start rubbing it over your sneakers.

  4. Once your sneakers are well covered, grab your sponge again and give them another good rub to make sure all areas are definitely covered with the stain remover.

  5. Put your sneakers straight into the washing machine (don’t rinse them first) along with the old towels. The towels will act as a buffer so you don’t damage your sneakers or your machine by banging around in the drum on their own.

  6. Add a scoop of washing powder to the machine, then set to wash on a high spin with cold water.

  7. Take them out when the wash has finished and dry naturally in the sun if you can!

Voila.
