How To Use The Sweat Forum
January 10, 2020
Sweat's mission is to help empower all women with fitness — and regardless of your goals or reasons for embarking on your health and fitness journey, the Sweat Forum can help you every step of the way!
It can be hard to push through when you feel lost or lack motivation, and it might even feel intimidating if you’re just starting out. The Sweat Forum is designed to help make the path towards a healthier lifestyle easier.
Once you join, you'll be connected to a supportive network of like-minded women where you can discuss workouts, nutrition — and everything in between! Think fitness hacks for over 40s, inspiring transformations, and honest reviews on popular diet trends.
No matter where you are, you can connect with hundreds of thousands of women in the Forum and get support, motivation and even make friends for life!
The Sweat team monitor questions or comments including account or subscription information — and make sure to look out for regular Sweat updates and announcements pinned to the top of the page!
Connect: How to join the Sweat Forum
The Forum can be a valuable tool for anyone — whether you’ve just started your fitness journey, or you’ve been training for a while! It’s free to join, and you can sign up even if you aren’t subscribed to the Sweat app.
How do you join as a member of Sweat?
If you’re signed up to the Sweat app, tap the "Community" icon at the bottom of your screen and select "See all" below the "Forum" heading. You'll be taken to the Forum directly where a prompt will appear, and you’ll need to create a username before you start.
How do you join if you aren't a member of Sweat?
You can still explore the Forum without a subscription if you aren’t ready to commit to a Sweat program. You can access the Forum directly via Sweat's website.
After you sign up, make sure to read the Forum Community Guidelines at the top of the Forum home page.
Explore: How to navigate the Forum
Once you’re in, you can engage in discussions on different health and fitness topics, or even start your own!
When you enter the Forum you'll see a list of discussions. These discussions are sorted by their titles, tags, number of comments within the discussion, and the times they were posted — depending on if you're viewing the Forum from your app or your browser.
Any discussions you’ve read will change from a bold to nonbold pink title on your browser.
How do you browse discussions?
Discussions are conversation threads created by other Forum users. You can search for discussions using tags or keywords.
If you’re using the Sweat app, tap the filter icon at the top right of the screen to search for a discussion from the following tags:
Introduce Yourself
Getting Started
Fitness Goal Oriented
Motivation & Encouragement
Workouts
Gym
Outdoors
Home
Equipment
No Equipment
Body Part Specific
Challenges
Exercise Education & Advice — “How-tos”
Mums & Families
“In Your Area”
Sweat Suggestions
Food & Nutrition
You can also choose a sort order to view discussions from the latest activity, most commented, newest or oldest.
Once you’ve selected from the filtering options, tap "Apply" to load your search results.
If you’re using a browser, the discussion topics and sort order can be selected separately from drop-down lists at the top right corner of the screen.
You can search for a specific topic using keywords in the search bar — in your app, look for “Search for a discussion” at the top of the screen, or if you’re using a browser, click the magnifying glass at the top right corner of the screen.
Can you search for discussions from a specific user?
You can't search usernames within the Forum, but you can select a username within a discussion to load their profile and see posts, discussions and mentions associated with that user. This is a great way to keep up with topics your friends or others with whom you have common interests are discussing.
Engage: How to join the conversation
There are a number of ways you can engage in discussions and interact with other Forum users.
How do you leave a comment on an existing discussion?
If you're using the Sweat app, tap “Comment” within a discussion or simply enter your comment directly into the “Write a comment” field at the bottom of your app.
In your browser, scroll to the bottom of the post and type your comment in the “Write a reply” field.
How do you mention another user?
To mention another user in your comment, include “@” before their username. That user will then be notified that they have been mentioned in a post.
React
Interact within discussions and with users by replying or liking comments, or share them to other platforms.
Reply
To reply to a comment within a discussion, select “Reply”. You’ll find this option located alongside a user’s comment. Your reply will then appear directly under the other user’s comment.
Like
You can “Like” users’ comments to show your support, or like the discussion itself.
Report
We want you to feel safe in the Forum. If there is a certain discussion or comment that doesn’t quite sit right with you, is personally attacking or spammy, you can notify us immediately by selecting “Report”. You can find this option by looking for the three dots (“...”) within any discussion.
Share
If there is a post that resonates with you, or that you want to share with friends outside of the Forum, you can choose to “Share” it to another platform like Message, Mail or Facebook.
In your app, tap the three dots (“...”) at the top of the screen, or if you’re using a browser, you’ll find “Share” in the menu to the right of the screen.
Follow
You can select "Follow" to stay across new comments on a discussion.
Tap the “Follow” option within a discussion in your app or if you're using your browser, you’ll see “Follow” on the menu to the right of your screen — a drop-down list will appear where you can choose to unfollow, follow, or ignore the discussion.
Notifications
Look for the bell icon at the top right of your screen to see your notifications.
You’ll be notified every time you are mentioned in a comment, when someone reacts to your comment or discussion, or if there are new comments on a discussion you follow.
Create: How to start a conversation
If you have a question that hasn’t been asked yet — start your own discussion with the Community!
How do you create a new discussion?
To start a discussion using your app, tap the pencil and paper icon at the bottom right of the screen. In your browser, click “Start a Discussion”.
Before creating a new discussion, ensure your topic hasn't already been addressed in another discussion. For example, if you are looking for other women “In Your Area”, use the filtering option to search the tag first.
Think of a captivating title to give other users an idea of what your discussion is about, then add at least one tag to make it easy for others to find.
You can add an image by taking a photo using the camera feature at the bottom of the screen in your app. Alternatively, choose an image from your gallery in your app or browser. By default, the image will always sit at the bottom of the text.
When you’re ready to post, select “Post” in your app, or “Post Discussion” in your browser.
Consider: Being part of a global community
Above all, Sweat encourages a respectful and supportive environment and relies on everyone to keep the Forum a safe place.
Remember you are part of a global community, so before you tap ”Post”, consider that there may be cultural differences and views on some topics you might not otherwise have given a second thought about.
Sweat values healthy debate, feedback, and discussion amongst the Community, but avoid sharing personal information like phone numbers for your own safety.
