Bliss Ball Combinations With 1 Recipe - Hero image

For an easy and healthy snack idea, it’s hard to pass up bliss balls! Make them in advance, then keep them in your fridge for a sweet (but healthy) treat you can grab anytime.

Because it’s likely that you’ll be making these pretty often (who can resist them, after all!), we’ve put together a few different flavour combinations to try. The basics of each of these recipes are the same, but now you get to experiment and find the flavours you love the most.

These are the ingredients you’ll need for each recipe variation:

Bliss Ball Ingredients

  • 10 Medjool dates, pitted

  • 100g raw almonds

  • 1-2 tablespoons water, if needed.

Place the dates in a heatproof bowl, cover with boiling water and leave to soak for 30 minutes to soften. Drain.

Choc-Mint Bliss Balls

Grab the ingredients above, plus:

  • 2 tablespoons raw cacao powder

  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) natural peppermint extract

Place the almonds in a high-powered blender and blend until the consistency resembles coarse flour. Add the dates, cacao powder and peppermint extract and blend until well combined. The mixture should be a little sticky. If the mixture is too thick or too dry, add the water a small amount at a time until you reach the right consistency.

Scoop out 1 heaped tablespoon of the mixture and roll into a ball using wet hands. Repeat with the remaining mixture. Place the balls on a plate or tray and refrigerate for 30 minutes to set.

Choc-orange Bliss Balls

Swap the peppermint extract in the recipe above for the juice of half an orange and a little bit of zest. It makes a delicious choc-orange flavour!

Acai Bliss Balls

Using the basic bliss ball ingredients, add:

  • 2 tablespoons acai powder

  • ½ cup (45g) desiccated coconut, for rolling

Place the dates, almonds and acai powder in a high-powered blender and blend until well combined. Once again, the mixture should be a little sticky. If the mixture is too thick or too dry, add the water a small amount at a time until you reach the right consistency.

Scoop out 1 heaped tablespoon of the mixture and roll into a ball using wet hands. Repeat with the remaining mixture. Roll the balls in the coconut, place on a tray or in a container and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Lemon and Coconut Bliss Balls

Grab your basic ingredients (listed above), as well as:

  • 1 cup (90g) desiccated coconut, plus extra for rolling

  • ½ a lemon

  • 1 tablespoon (20ml) honey

Place the dates, almonds, coconut, lemon juice and zest in a high-powered blender and blend until well combined. Once again, the mixture should be a little sticky. If the mixture is too thick or too dry, add the water a small amount at a time until you reach the right consistency (or use lemon juice if you prefer a bit more zing!).

Scoop out 1 heaped tablespoon of the mixture and roll into a ball using wet hands. Roll in some extra coconut, if desired, then place on a tray or in a container and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Bliss balls are fantastic for popping in the lunch box, or having in the fridge for a quick snack when you’re feeling peckish. With all of these different flavours, you’ll never get bored with them.

You can keep extra balls in the refrigerator for up to a week — if they last that long!
