13 Random Acts To Make The World A Kinder Place
February 17, 2022
A little act of kindness can go a long way, and there’s no better time than Random Acts of Kindness Day to take the time to make the world a kinder place for those around you.
Whether you choose to silence your inner critic, embrace your favourite self-care practice or decide to pop in to say hello to an elderly neighbour, there’s no limit to the number of ways you can spread some good and help make kindness the norm.
Simple ways to be kind to yourself
Take a walk
Pop your headphones on, reset and refocus by spending your lunch break hitting the pavement. According to Australia’s Heart Foundation, 30 minutes a day is all you need to reap some of the benefits of walking.
Do something that feels good
Whether that’s taking the time to get your Thursday Sweat session in or spending the day in your PJs catching up on Netflix, slow down, listen to your body and embrace what feels good.
Buy yourself a little treat
There’s no rule that says you have to wait to be given flowers. Why not brighten up your surroundings by treating yourself to a bunch of your favourite blooms or that scented candle you’ve had your eye on for a while.
Have an afternoon nap
While we certainly can’t endorse doing this on a workday, there’s nothing quite like a quick afternoon siesta to reset your internal battery. And given the benefits of sleep, we say there’s nothing wrong with getting in a little extra shut-eye.
Take yourself out for a meal
Whether it’s breakfast, lunch, dinner or just a quick coffee date with a good book, spend some valuable one-on-one time with yourself. As we all know, the most important relationship you have is the one you have with yourself!
Pick up a great book
It doesn’t matter if you love getting lost in a good story or if non-fiction is more your vibe, grab a book in a genre you love, pour yourself a cup of tea and embrace some much-needed me-time!
Easy ways to show kindness to those around you
Check-in on someone you haven’t spoken to in a while
Whether it’s a grandparent, a friend you’ve lost touch with or another member of the Sweat Community, check in and see how they are. It might make the world of difference to them.
Tell somebody you love them
There’s nothing quite like the L-word to get those warm and fuzzy feelings going. Let your parents, siblings, partner or kids know just how much you care about them. It’s sure to brighten their day.
Volunteer your time
Many charitable organisations need more than just financial donations to keep them going, so find an organisation doing work in an area you feel passionately about and reach out to them to find a way you can contribute.
Offer to cook a meal for someone
This might mean sharing your favourite meal with a loved one or offering to prepare some food for that time-poor friend who always has an empty fridge. Perhaps you know someone who has just had a baby, moved house or is going through a tough time. For some people, the way to their heart is most definitely through their stomach!
Work out with a friend
Do you have a workout buddy you love to get your Sweat on with? Take the time to do a workout together. Want to challenge yourself? Try this epic partner workout from Head Trainer Kayla Itsines and feel the burn.
Pay it forward
There are so many ways to pay it forward, whether it’s donating your pre-loved clothes to charity or shouting someone else’s coffee when you’re next in line for your morning brew.
Plant a tree
Show nature some love by getting your green thumb dirty and planting a tree in your backyard. If you don’t have the space, there are a number of organisations that will allow you to donate a tree to help fund their planting projects.
Find a way to live and breathe kindness every day
